What do you teach?

Astronomy

Jennifer Jones, ĢƵ Astronomy Faculty / Physical Sciences Department ChairHow long have you been at ĢƵ?

This is my 10th year (Since August 2012)

How long have you been teaching?

I have been teaching 14 years, 12 at Community Colleges in the Metro Area

Why did you choose ĢƵ?

I wish I had some great story about why I picked ĢƵ in the first place, but unfortunately I don't. ĢƵ had an opening for a full time position in Astronomy and I wanted my career to grown. I knew ĢƵ was a great school, which made deciding to apply easy. I do know why I pick ĢƵ continually. I love working at ĢƵ; I love the people I work with and the students. I do not want to teach anywhere else.

What is your mountain (ultimate goal)?

I'm not fully sure. I might want to be Dean someday, but right now I am loving what I do in the classroom. (Though really my hardest mountain seems to be finishing my daughter's baby blanket. I started before she was born, and now she is four).

What's your favorite ĢƵ memory so far?

I have had a lot of fun at ĢƵ. I think the most unique memory (non-repeating event) was the 50th Anniversary Celebration. It was such a great night. Of common occurring events, I love Star Parties, especially when young kids come.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I play Elder Scrolls Online weekly with another astrophysicist who I went to college with. She and I play an MMORPG because we live in different states and can no longer play D&D together.
