Fujii Named AÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board Chair-Elect

Arapahoe Community College (Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ) President Stephanie J. Fujii, PhD, has been named Chair-Elect for the American Association of Community Colleges (AÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ) Board of Directors for 2026-27.

The AÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ is the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges, representing more than 1,000 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and nearly 10.5 million students. The AÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Board is committed to guaranteeing accountability of AÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ to the membership.

Fujii begins her 6th year as President at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ in 2026-27. She previously served as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Scottsdale Community College and has more than 37 years of higher education experience as a counselor, faculty member, and administrator. Fujii serves on the board of and is the Past President of the (NAPIC; affiliated council of the AÄ¢¹½ÊÓÆµ).

Fujii, who is currently serving on the  (2024-27), was also recently named to the ASU + GSV Higher Education Insights Board, as well as to the 3rd cohort of the Aspen Presidents Fellowship. She holds a bachelor's degree in Communication and a graduate degree in Counseling (both from the University of Nevada, Reno), as well as a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies (Arizona State University).

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ drives new and creative approaches to education, with a focus on building forward-thinking pathways to social and economic mobility. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ creates and strengthens pipelines into high-demand careers by developing work-based learning opportunities and real-world experiences in response to evolving labor market needs.
