McMahon, Polis Visit Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ

U.S. Secretary of Education and Colorado Governor visited the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Sturm Collaboration Campus at Castle Rock on Thursday afternoon, July 24, to learn more about what Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and its industry and education partners are doing to develop innovative, unique, and impactful education & training programs, while providing educational pathways for our future workforce.

Secretary McMahon enjoyed a tour of the state-of-the-art instructional spaces at the Sturm Collaboration Campus, followed by a roundtable discussion with industry, education, civic, workforce, and community partners centered on:  

  • collaborative industry partnerships that support talent pipeline development
  • responsive workforce training to support economic growth
  • the (a vision which eliminates traditional barriers between high school, post-secondary education, and career pathways)
  • the Colorado Space Institute at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ
  • customized training and access to upskilling opportunities
  • career and technical education (CTE) courses and programs that support workforce needs
  • the role of higher education in hands-on internships and apprenticeships
  • the role of economic development in education and workforce programs
  • collaboration between the Department of Education and the Department of Labor in support of developing dynamic CTE workforce programs

The Colorado Space Institute at Arapahoe Community College positions Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ and other CCCS institutions to become leaders in developing the next generation of Colorado’s aerospace workforce. The Institute leverages collaboration with aerospace industry partners to provide innovative, competency-based education programs that meet the needs of national security, civil, and commercial space sectors.
